Social Worker – Short Breaks Team London Borough of Barking and Dagenham Salary: £35,496 – £41,586 We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Social Worker to join our Short Breaks Team. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of children and young people with disabilities and their families. Key Responsibilities: * Safeguarding and Welfare: Act as a key member of the social work team, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and their families. * Statutory Compliance: Discharge the Authority’s responsibilities under the Children’s Act 1989 & 2004 and other relevant legislation. * Professional Practice: Maintain high professional standards, adhering to Social Work England guidelines and the Division’s values. * Assessment and Service Delivery: Conduct thorough assessments, develop and implement effective care plans, and liaise with other agencies to ensure seamless service delivery. * Child Protection and Looked After Children: Work within the London Child Protection Procedures to safeguard children at risk and support those in the care of the Local Authority. * Family Support and Prevention: Collaborate with health, education, and targeted family support colleagues to address unmet needs and prevent statutory intervention. * Support and Advocacy: Advocate for disabled children and young people, supporting them to access community resources and achieve their full potential. * Transition Planning: Facilitate smooth transitions to Adult Social Care services, ensuring continuity of care. * Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance skills and knowledge. Essential Requirements: * Social Work qualification (Degree or equivalent) * Registration with Social Work England * Significant experience in working with children and families, particularly those with disabilities * Strong assessment, planning, and intervention skills * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills * Ability to work independently and as part of a team * Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
