We are recruiting for a Family Court Adviser (FCA) to support children, families, and the courts throughout family proceedings, ensuring the child's welfare remains at the heart of every decision.
As a Family Court Adviser, you will provide expert social work assessments, analyse complex family situations, advise the court on safeguarding and welfare issues, and work directly with children and families to achieve the best possible outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete comprehensive assessments of children and families involved in family court proceedings.
- Identify and assess safeguarding risks, making recommendations to the court based on evidence and the child's best interests.
- Undertake direct work with children and families to understand their wishes, feelings, and needs.
- Prepare high-quality court reports and present professional recommendations.
- Manage a complex caseload while meeting statutory timescales and court deadlines.
- Work collaboratively with local authorities, legal professionals, and partner agencies.
- Maintain accurate case records and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and professional standards.
Essential Requirements
- Recognised Social Work qualification (Degree, Dip SW, CQSW or equivalent).
- Registration with Social Work England.
- Minimum of 3 years' post-qualifying experience working with children and families.
- Strong assessment, analytical, communication, negotiation, and report-writing skills.
- Experience managing complex child protection and safeguarding cases.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and perform effectively under pressure.
- Competent IT skills.
