Rochdale Borough Council is looking for a passionate, resilient, and highly experienced Social Worker to join our Cared for Children Team. We are committed to achieving the best possible outcomes for the children and young people in our care, ensuring they have the stability, support, and opportunities they deserve.
Key Responsibilities
- Complex Case Management: Take specific responsibility for dealing with complex cases, including the high-quality assessment and appropriate management of risks to ensure child safety and wellbeing.
- Strategic Planning: Work collaboratively with service users, families, and other professionals/stakeholders to assist in comprehensive service planning and delivery.
- Permanence & Pathways: Ensure all statutory duties are met regarding Care Planning, Pathway Plans, and court work, driving cases forward to prevent drift.
- Voice of the Child: Ensure the child’s voice is evident in all recording and that their views drive the planning process.
About You
We are looking for a candidate who brings immediate value and expertise to the service.
Experience: You must have a minimum of 2 years’ post-qualifying experience specifically working within a Cared for Children (Looked After Children) Team.
Qualifications: A recognised Social Work qualification (BA/MA/DipSW) and active registration with Social Work England.
Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality court reports and assessments under pressure.
Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of the Children Act 1989/2004 and relevant statutory guidance regarding looked-after children.
