About The Role:
We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Senior Social Worker / Senior Practitioner to join our Children's Assessment Team, specialising in supporting 16- and 17-year-olds presenting as homeless and experiencing complex safeguarding needs.
This is a specialist role where you will lead high-quality assessments, undertake effective interventions, and ensure vulnerable young people receive the protection, stability, and support they need. You will work collaboratively with housing services, education, health professionals, and partner agencies to deliver child-centred, trauma-informed practice that achieves positive outcomes.
Alongside frontline practice, you will play a key role in driving service improvement by producing monthly reports for senior leaders and stakeholders, monitoring performance, supporting compliance with Ofsted recommendations, and contributing to the ongoing development of the service.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead assessments and interventions for 16- and 17-year-olds presenting as homeless.
- Deliver high-quality, child-centred and trauma-informed social work practice.
- Work in partnership with housing, education, health, police, and other agencies to achieve the best outcomes for young people.
- Manage complex safeguarding cases and provide expert professional judgement.
- Produce monthly performance and quality assurance reports for senior management and stakeholders.
- Support service improvement initiatives and ensure practice aligns with Ofsted recommendations and statutory guidance.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and professional support to colleagues where appropriate.
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Be a qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
- Have significant post-qualified experience within Children's Services, particularly in assessment and safeguarding.
- Have experience working with homeless 16- and 17-year-olds or young people with complex needs.
- Demonstrate excellent assessment, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Be passionate about achieving the best outcomes for children, young people, and their families through relational and strengths-based practice.
- Have experience coaching, mentoring, or supporting the development of other practitioners.
- Be confident working collaboratively with managers and partner agencies to deliver high-quality services.
