About the Role:
Our Social Workers in the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) are the first decision-makers for contacts coming into Social Care. They play a vital role in reviewing information, liaising with partner agencies and providing clear direction on appropriate next steps. Our Social Workers are key to supporting agencies in working through the concerns they have, providing advice and signposting to appropriate services where required. The role also involves liaising with locality leads to identify and offer appropriate support, as well as providing informal advice, guidance and supervision to other professionals working within the MASH across a range of disciplines. Our Social Workers are passionate about meeting families’ needs at the earliest opportunity and preventing unnecessary escalation to specialist services. They are skilled in having sensitive conversations, coaching and supporting professionals, while applying sound professional judgement when assessing need, risk and safeguarding thresholds.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a first point of decision-making for contacts received by Social Care.
- Review and assess information to determine appropriate next steps.
- Liaise effectively with partner agencies and professionals.
- Provide advice, guidance and signposting to appropriate services.
- Work closely with locality leads to identify opportunities for early support.
- Provide informal advice, coaching and supervision to professionals across the MASH.
- Apply appropriate thresholds when assessing need, risk and safeguarding concerns.
- Promote early intervention and support to prevent unnecessary escalation to specialist services.
- Maintain a strong focus on achieving positive outcomes for children, young people and families.
