About the role
We are looking for a dedicated and passionate Social Worker to join our Adoption Service, supporting the recruitment, preparation, and assessment of prospective adopters. This role is central to ensuring that children are placed in safe, stable, and loving homes. You will provide guidance, training, and ongoing support to individuals and families throughout their adoption journey—from initial enquiry through to matching and securing an adoption order.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the recruitment of adoptive families through engagement and outreach
- Provide advice, guidance, and training to adults considering adoption
- Undertake thorough and complex assessments of prospective adopters
- Analyse assessment information and produce high-quality Prospective Adopter Reports for Adoption Panel
- Support adopters and their families through the matching process and into placement
- Contribute to achieving successful adoption orders
About You
- Qualified Social Worker with current professional registration
- Experience in adoption, fostering, or children’s social care (desirable)
- Strong assessment, analytical, and report‑writing skills
- Ability to build trusting relationships with a wide range of individuals
- Confident delivering training and facilitating group work
- Committed to achieving the best outcomes for children and families
- Strong understanding of relevant legislation and safeguarding practices
