Position:Qualified Social Worker – Family Safeguarding
Location:Hertford & Ware, Hertfordshire
Salary: £37ph
Contract Type: Full-Time and on-going contract

About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Social Worker to join the Family Safeguarding Team based in Hertford & Ware. This is a locum opportunity offering a competitive hourly rate and the chance to work in a highly respected and innovative model of practice that puts children and families at the heart of everything.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure children remain at the centre of all interventions and decision-making processes
  • Engage directly with families, building meaningful relationships to promote positive change
  • Complete parenting assessments and provide evidence-informed recommendations
  • Liaise effectively with partner agencies, including education, health, and police
  • Respect and consider people’s life experiences, diversity, and individual choices
  • Conduct regular home visits, including unannounced checks where appropriate

Manage all aspects of Child Protection (CP) and Child in Need (CIN) cases, including:

  • Chairing and minuting core groups and CIN meetings
  • Attending multi-agency professional meetings

Manage cases in public law proceedings:

  • Write and present court reports, including Section 7 and Section 37 reports

Attend court hearings as required:

  • Challenge parents constructively and respectfully to safeguard children Work with a high degree of autonomy, while maintaining regular supervision and team collaboration
