The Learning Academy was established to ensure we have a workforce that is equipped to:

  • support children to be raised within their own families, immediate or wider,wherever it is safe and appropriate to do so
  • capable of buildingrelationships and strengthening families by working with people in a compassionate and understandingway.

The Learning and Development Manager plays a key role in shaping and delivering this vision through planning and delivery of activities to ensure we maintain a high quality workforce development offer that anticipates current and emerging needs.

Who You’ll Work With

Supervising of Workforce Development officer and Project Support Assistant supporting Families First Programme

Key Responsibilities

You will:

  • Lead and coordinate training and workforce development activities and programmes including budgets
  • Draft the the workforce development strategy and update the L+D offer to be ready for the FFP reform and to ensure it accommodates differently qualified professionals
  • Collaborate with Heads of Service, managers and practitioners to ensure learning offer is relevant and meeting any emerging needs
  • Manage and supervise staff within the Learning Academy
  • Represent Children’s Services at internal and external meetings (eg THSCP, Teaching Partnership)
  • Participate in the audit cycle

Who We’re Looking For

  • Excellent organisational and communication skills;
  • In‑depth knowledge of learning and development methodologies
  • Substantial experience in children and families work including early help and children’s social care (current and relevant future) legislation, standards, guidance
  • Understanding of best practice in commissioning and delivering services
  • Effective people management experience as the post is responsible for line management of non social work staff
  • You must be a qualified social worker with current SWE registration
