A South West local authority is seeking an experienced Principal Social Worker to support best practice and workforce development across their front-line Adult Social Care teams. This interim role (4–6 months) offers the chance to make a real difference to residents’ lives and influence practice across a highly integrated health and social care system.
You will work closely with the Director of Adult Social Services (DASS) and Divisional Directors, championing social work governance, quality assurance, and strengths-based practice. You will provide expert advice on complex cases, drive improvement following audits, inspections, and Safeguarding Adult Reviews, and lead workforce development including ASYE, recruitment, and retention.
They are looking for a registered social worker with substantial senior leadership experience in statutory adult social care, a strong understanding of legislation (Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, Mental Health Act), and a proven track record of improving practice, governance, and outcomes.
