Locum Occupational Therapist - adults and children with physical and learning disabilities. Role will be based in Harrow.

As an Occupational Therapist within Harrow, you will work with adults and children with physical and learning disabilities, using a strengths-based, preventative model to enable independence and support positive outcomes. You will manage a varied caseload across Harrow, completing holistic assessments, recommending adaptations and equipment, and collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams.

Key elements of your role will include:

  • Providing high-quality assessments and interventions focused on independence, safety, and wellbeing.
  • Recommending and commissioning equipment, minor/major adaptations, and moving & handling plans.
  • Working collaboratively with partners including HART, equipment suppliers, voluntary organisations, and health colleagues.
  • Offering expert advice as part of our OT Duty rota, screening referrals and supporting professionals and the public.
  • Ensuring safeguarding concerns for vulnerable adults and children are responded to urgently and appropriately.
  • Maintaining accurate case records and contributing to team performance, service development, and clinical standards.
  • Supporting OT students where required and actively engaging in CPD.

About You

We’re looking for an Occupational Therapist who is proactive, reflective, and committed to best practice. You will bring:

Essential:

  • A recognised Occupational Therapy qualification.
  • HCPC registration.
  • Understanding of key legislation including the Children Act 1989, Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Manual Handling Regulations, and Disability Discrimination legislation.
  • Strong assessment, communication, interpersonal and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage your own caseload, and contribute positively to a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Confidence in advising on moving & handling, equipment solutions, and environmental adaptations.
  • Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion in all areas of practice.
  • Enhanced DBS clearance.
  • UK driving licence and access to a car.

Desirable:

  • Experience within a Local Authority or NHS setting.
  • Ability to work flexibly, including occasional work outside standard hours.
