About The Role: Barking & Dagenham is looking for an experienced and passionate Senior Social Worker to join our Family Support & Safeguarding Team. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a forward-thinking local authority that is committed to achieving the best possible outcomes for children and families through high-quality, relationship-based practice. Working with children and families from diverse cultural backgrounds, you'll play a key role in safeguarding children, supporting families, and delivering meaningful, lasting change.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage complex cases involving children in need, child protection, and care proceedings.
- Deliver high-quality, child-centred assessments, interventions, and care planning.
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of children in accordance with statutory responsibilities.
- Work collaboratively with families and multi-agency partners to improve outcomes for children and young people.
- Prepare clear, evidence-based reports for child protection conferences, reviews, and court proceedings where required.
- Provide leadership within the team by modelling excellent practice and supporting colleagues.
- Work independently while contributing positively to a supportive and collaborative team environment.
About You:
- Current Social Work England registration and a recognised Social Work qualification.
- Significant experience within Children's Family Support and Safeguarding, including Child Protection and safeguarding work.
- Strong knowledge of the Children Act 1989, Children Act 2004, Working Together to Safeguard Children, and related legislation.
