Social Worker – Families First Initial Support Team - Ealing Council - £39ph - Hybrid working

Ealing Council (Locum) – £39 per hour and ongoing contract – Full‑time | Hybrid Working

Ealing Council is seeking an experienced Children's Social Worker to join its Families First – Initial Support Team on a locum basis.

This is an excellent opportunity to work within the front door service, undertaking high‑quality assessments and safeguarding work to ensure children and families receive the right support at the earliest opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake Child and Family Assessments in line with statutory timescales.
  • Screen and assess referrals relating to children and families.
  • Complete Section 17 Child in Need and Section 47 Child Protection enquiries.
  • Assess risk and develop effective, outcome‑focused plans to safeguard children.
  • Work directly with children and families using a strengths‑based approach.
  • Liaise with schools, health professionals, police and partner agencies to coordinate support.
  • Prepare high‑quality assessments, reports and court statements where required.
  • Attend strategy meetings, Child Protection Conferences and other multi‑agency meetings.
  • Maintain accurate case records and manage a varied caseload.

Requirements

  • Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
  • Experience within Children’s Assessment, Referral & Assessment, Front Door, MASH, Duty or Initial Response teams.
  • Strong knowledge of the Children Act 1989, Working Together to Safeguard Children and child protection procedures.
  • Excellent assessment, analytical and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage a busy caseload and work effectively within statutory timescales.
