About the Role:
Croydon Children's Services are seeking an experienced Assistant Team Manager to join the Out of Hours Team. This is a key leadership role supporting the delivery of high-quality emergency social work services outside normal office hours. The successful candidate will support the Out of Hours Team Manager and Service Manager in managing referrals, deploying staff and resources effectively, and ensuring children and families receive timely, safe and effective interventions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Triage and manage referrals received by the Out of Hours Team.
- Make evidence-based professional judgments, recommendations and plans in situations involving need and risk.
- Make professional decisions that safeguard children, young people and vulnerable adults.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, legislation, guidance and Croydon practice standards.
- Liaise effectively with partner agencies to deliver coordinated services for children and families.
- Build positive and effective relationships with children, families and professionals.
- Promote strengths-based practice that empowers families and supports positive outcomes.
- Contribute to the Service's engagement strategy and partnership working.
- Develop comprehensive knowledge of available services to ensure appropriate support is identified.
- Maintain accurate and timely case records that support quality assurance and service improvement.
- Participate in quality assurance activities and adapt practice in response to learning.
- Keep up to date with legislation, research, policy developments and best practice within children's social care.
- Support the deployment of staff and resources in line with service priorities and council objectives.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate:
- Significant experience working within a statutory children's social care setting, making professional judgments that improve outcomes for children.
- Proven ability to build effective relationships with vulnerable children, families, adults and partner agencies.
