About the Role:
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Duty & Assessment Social Worker to join a children's social care team in Lewes, East Sussex.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Social Worker with strong experience in safeguarding, assessment and care planning. You will work directly with children, young people and families, helping to identify needs, manage risk and achieve positive outcomes.
The successful candidate will be confident working within a fast-paced environment, collaborating with partner agencies and contributing to effective safeguarding and care provision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake a range of statutory social work tasks, including investigating concerns relating to child maltreatment and safeguarding.
- Carry out comprehensive assessments of children, young people and families, including analysis of need, risk and appropriate interventions.
- Develop effective care and support plans that promote positive outcomes for children and young people.
- Assess and supervise alternative carers where required.
- Support the preparation and training of foster carers.
- Undertake preventative and early intervention work to help ensure children are safely cared for within their families wherever possible.
- Liaise with partner agencies and key professionals to gather and share information relevant to safeguarding and care provision.
- Contribute to wider assessment processes and multi-agency decision making.
- Work confidently with legal interventions, statutory frameworks and relevant policies and procedures.
- Work directly with children, young people, families and carers, empowering them to express their needs and participate meaningfully in decision making.
- Build effective professional networks around children and young people to support placement stability and positive outcomes.
- Provide community-based support to children, young people and families.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records and documentation.
- Prepare and present reports to panels and court when required.
Requirements:
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Social Worker who is confident undertaking assessments, managing safeguarding concerns and working with children and families in complex circumstances.
You will have:
- A recognized Social Work qualification.
- Current Social Work England registration.
- Experience within Children's Social Care.
- Strong experience in duty, assessment and safeguarding work.
- Excellent assessment, analysis and care planning skills.
- Experience working with children, young people and families in a statutory setting.
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and safeguarding procedures.
- Excellent communication, report-writing and partnership-working skills.
- The ability to work confidently with professionals, families and other agencies.
- A commitment to achieving positive outcomes for children and young people.
