Knowsley Council is seeking experienced and dedicated Child Protection Social Workers to join our team on a contract basis. Key Responsibilities

As a Child Protection Social Worker in Knowsley, your role will be centered on providing high‑quality, effective social work services.

• Manage a complex and demanding caseload focused on Child Protection and Looked After Children.
• Conduct thorough single assessments and statutory visits to children and families.
• Develop and implement comprehensive Child Protection Plans and Care Plans.
• Prepare and present accurate, high‑quality reports for Child Protection Conferences, Permanence Planning Meetings, and Court proceedings.
• Work collaboratively with multi‑agency partners, including health, police, and education, to ensure a coordinated response to risk.
• Participate in supervision, training, and continuous professional development (CPD).
• Maintain accurate and timely case recordings using electronic systems.

What We’re Looking For

• Social Work Qualification (e.g., Degree in Social Work, DipSW, CQSW).
• Current Social Work England registration (essential).
• Significant post‑qualifying experience in a frontline statutory Child Protection team.
• Extensive knowledge of relevant childcare legislation and local authority processes.
• Ability to work autonomously, prioritise effectively, and manage high‑risk situations.
