About the role:
We are seeking an experienced and committed Social Worker – Children in Care to join the Children in Care team in Huntingdon.
The team works with children and young people of all ages who are in care, supporting them through their care journey and ensuring robust, timely and child-centred permanence planning.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Social Worker who is passionate about achieving positive outcomes for children and young people and who has strong skills in direct work and relationship-building.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of children and young people who are in care.
- Progress and regularly review care plans, ensuring they remain focused on the child's individual needs and long-term outcomes.
- Undertake effective direct work with children and young people, ensuring their wishes and feelings are central to decision-making.
- Develop and progress appropriate permanence plans, including:
- Adoption
- Long-term fostering
- Returning home to family members
- Other appropriate permanence options
- Support children and young people with complex needs, including those living in residential care.
- Promote positive outcomes in relation to children's health, education, emotional wellbeing and relationships.
- Work proactively with children, families, carers and partner agencies.
- Ensure statutory responsibilities are met within required timescales.
- Contribute to effective care planning and multi-agency working.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records and documentation.
- Advocate for children and young people and ensure their voices remain central throughout their time in care.
