Tripod Partners are currently recruiting for a Port Health Officer. Are you an EHORB-registered Environmental Health Officer looking to use your skills in a dynamic, high-impact setting? We're working with a respected Port Health Authority that is expanding its team and seeking a Port Health Officer to support critical biosecurity, food, and feed import controls.

Locations: London Gateway, Tilbury, Purfleet & Thamesport

Band F | Locum Contract | Full-Time

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and enforce controls for Products of Animal and Non-Animal Origin, fishery products, organic imports, and more
  • Liaise with UK and international agencies (FSA, APHA, HMRC, EU Commission, etc.)
  • Conduct inspections, sampling, and quality assurance in line with ISO, FSA, and EU legislation
  • Serve as (or train to become) an Official Fish Inspector
  • Lead on investigations, draft enforcement notices, and support legal proceedings where necessary
  • Provide training and technical guidance to junior and technical staff
  • Use systems such as PHILIS, IPAFFS, Destin8, FSS, and M3

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • BSc or MSc in Environmental Health (CIEH approved)
  • EHORB Registration – must be eligible to practice in the UK
  • Experience in Port Health, Environmental Health, or related field
  • Familiarity with UK/EU food & feed legislation, sampling protocols, and import controls
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to advise stakeholders at all levels
  • A UK driving license (fieldwork across sites may be required)
