We are currently recruiting an experienced Homeless Housing Coordinator to join Enfield’s Homeless Families & Singles Service, supporting households who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. This role plays a key part in Enfield’s Early Help strategy, focusing on prevention, housing sustainment, and reducing reliance on temporary accommodation.

The Families & Singles Service works with applicants threatened with homelessness to help them sustain their current accommodation or secure suitable private rented housing. The service works closely with partners to improve resilience, prevent homelessness wherever possible, and stop people entering temporary accommodation or sleeping rough.

The Homeless Housing Coordinator will work within either the Families Team or Singles Team, providing specialist housing advice and intervention. You will work closely with courts, solicitors, Enfield’s legal services, and partner agencies to prevent evictions and homelessness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert housing advice and homelessness prevention support
  • Manage complex homelessness cases in line with the Homelessness Reduction Act
  • Work closely with courts, solicitors and legal services around possession proceedings, evictions and court outcomes
  • Take proactive action to prevent or delay homelessness wherever possible
  • Make informed homelessness decisions in line with legislation, policy and case law
  • Support applicants to sustain existing accommodation or move into suitable private rented housing
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to improve housing outcomes
  • Identify and manage safeguarding concerns for vulnerable adults and children
  • Maintain accurate case records and ensure decisions are legally robust

Essential Requirements

  • Extensive experience working within homelessness or housing services
  • Expert knowledge of the Homelessness Reduction Act, housing legislation, policy, practice and case law
  • Strong understanding of courts, possession orders and eviction processes
  • Proven experience in homelessness decision making
  • Knowledge of welfare benefits and housing-related welfare issues
  • Sound understanding of safeguarding for vulnerable adults and children
  • Ability to manage complex, high-risk cases with a prevention-focused approach
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
