Senior Practitioner needed for our Adoption Team in Thurrock, paying up to £35.65 per hour - Hybrid working!
Location: Thurrock
Pay: £35.65 per hour
Hours: Full-Time/Temporary Contract
Working Pattern: 2 days office per week.
About the role
Thurrock is looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, and motivated Senior Practitioner to join their Adoption team. This is a varied and rewarding role, offering the opportunity to contribute across the full adoption journey — from recruitment of adopters through to post-adoption support.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead on the recruitment and assessment of prospective adopters, including delivering information events and 'preparing to adopt' training
- Undertake family finding for children with adoption plans
- Support family finding for approved adopters and provide support following placement
- Work with and support birth parents to understand adoption and its implications
- Carry out assessments of need for post-adoption and Special Guardianship Order (SGO) cases
- Identify and commission appropriate post-order support services
- Support adopted adults in accessing their birth records
- Complete non-agency and stepparent adoption assessments and prepare court reports
- Develop and maintain strong partnership working with local authorities and agencies within Adopt East
