At Medway Council, we are committed to putting the needs of individual children first. We are looking for dedicated Social Workers to join our Children’s Social Work Teams. If you are passionate about relationship-based practice and making a difference, we want to hear from you.
The Role: As a Social Worker in our statutory team, you will work proactively to build strong relationships with families requiring intervention. Using the Signs of Safety practice model, you will implement Child in Need or Child Protection plans, aiming to safely step families down or, when necessary, escalate to legal proceedings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload within a framework of reflective supervision, preparing analytical assessments and SMART plans.
- Use creative techniques to establish the wishes, feelings, and lived experiences of children.
- Prepare structured, high-quality reports for Child Protection Conferences, Looked After Children Reviews, and Court proceedings.
- Work alongside Police, Education, Health, and Youth Services to achieve the best outcomes.
Person Specification:
- At least 2 years of post-qualifying experience in a statutory setting, including court work.
- Qualified Social Worker with successful completion of your ASYE year.
- Current registration with Social Work England.
- Ability to work with autonomy and make sound decisions in complex situations.
- Must have a valid UK driving license and daily access to your own vehicle.
