Responsibilities
- The role holder has leading operational responsibility for the Independent Domestic Violence Advisory Service (IDVA) and coordinates the adult social care response within Multi‑Agency Risk Assessment Conferences (MARAC) across Manchester.
- Driving effective team and integrated working by fostering a positive and inclusive culture.
- Identifying and achieving team and service goals to maximise staff potential.
- Developing robust policies and procedures for Domestic Abuse and Adult Safeguarding.
- Identifying emerging harm themes in Manchester communities.
- Promoting and implementing best practice intervention models.
- Collaborating with voluntary sector services supporting domestic abuse victims or those at risk.
- Co‑ordinating and representing within Multi‑Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) for high‑risk survivors and perpetrators.
- Ensuring MARAC and MAPPA responses meet statutory duties under the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Domestic Abuse Act 2021.
- Providing professional consultation, support and guidance for suspected or evident domestic abuse within Adult Social Care and the Manchester Safeguarding Partnership.
- Supporting Domestic Homicide Reviews and disseminating learning across Adult Social Care and the Safeguarding Partnership.
- Assisting the Safeguarding Service as directed by the Service Manager for Adult Safeguarding and Head of Service.
Qualifications
- Social Work qualification and registration with Social Work England.
- Experience as a Social Worker in line with the Social Work Professional Capabilities Framework (including roles such as Practice Educator, Best Interest Assessor, or Approved Mental Health Professional).
- Willingness to consent to, and obtain, an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
- Three years reference, gaps in employment history checked, and any other relevant qualifications as per JDPS.
