Are you an expert in adult protection looking for a fast-paced, high-impact role? Swindon Borough Council is seeking an Experienced Social Worker to join our dedicated Safeguarding Team as an Enquiry Manager. This is a critical role for a practitioner who excels in managing risk.
Responsibilities
The Role: Enquiry Manager
You will lead on statutory duties under the Care Act 2014, ensuring that the principles of Making Safeguarding Personal are at the heart of every intervention.
- Decision Making: Triage referrals and gather information to make robust Section 42(1) criteria decisions within 5 working days.
- Enquiry Oversight: Take accountability for Section 42(2) Enquiries, ensuring completion within 28 days where a safeguarding plan is not required.
- Leadership: Manage complex safeguarding plans, supervise others, and chair multi-agency meetings to mitigate risk.
- Legal Expertise: Apply the Mental Capacity Act 2005 daily, completing assessments, Best Interest Decisions, and supporting Court work.

Working Arrangements
- Hybrid Working: Work from home 3 days per week. Please note that 2 days per week in the office is a non-negotiable requirement to support team cohesion and duty cover.
- Duty: You will be expected to be on the duty rota one day per week.
- Fast-Paced Support: You will join a team that values accurate, timely recording and hits targets while maintaining a person-centered, strengths-based approach.
Requirements
Due to the complexity of this role, we are looking for highly skilled professionals who meet the following:
- Minimum of 3 yearsβ post-qualifying experience in Adult Social Care.
- Extensive knowledge of the Care Act, MCA, and safeguarding legal frameworks.
- Ideally, additional qualifications such as Best Interest Assessor (BIA) or Practice Supervisor/Educator.
- Proven ability to work under pressure and manage high-risk caseloads.
