We are seeking an experienced Technical Director to lead the integration of AI technologies into game development pipelines, accelerating content creation, improving production efficiency, and enabling teams to deliver high-quality games at scale. This role combines technical leadership, technical art expertise, and AI strategy. The ideal candidate understands the realities of game production and can identify practical opportunities for AI across art, design, engineering, QA, and live operations. They will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop workflows, tools, and standards that empower developers while maintaining creative quality and technical excellence.

Responsibilities

  • AI Strategy & Innovation
    • Define and execute the studio’s AI adoption strategy across game development and live operations.
    • Evaluate emerging AI technologies and identify opportunities to improve development efficiency, content generation, and player experiences.
    • Establish best practices for responsible, secure, and scalable AI usage.
    • Build roadmaps for AI initiatives aligned with business and production goals.
  • Production Pipeline Development
    • Design and implement AI-assisted workflows for content creation, asset generation, localization, testing, and production support.
    • Identify bottlenecks across development teams and develop AI-driven solutions to reduce manual effort.
    • Create standards and governance around AI-generated content, validation, and quality control.
    • Measure and communicate productivity gains through data-driven reporting.
  • Technical Leadership
    • Lead the development of internal AI tools and integrations.
    • Partner with engineering teams to deploy and maintain AI services, APIs, and automation systems.
    • Ensure AI solutions are scalable, secure, and maintainable.
    • Provide technical direction on infrastructure, workflow automation, and content pipelines.
  • Technical Art & Creative Enablement
    • Collaborate with artists and designers to develop AI-assisted creative workflows.
    • Support procedural content generation, asset optimization, and automated content production.
    • Develop tooling that enables creators to focus on high-value creative work.
    • Ensure AI solutions enhance rather than replace artistic vision and quality.
  • Team Leadership & Collaboration
    • Act as the primary bridge between production, engineering, art, design, and business stakeholders.
    • Mentor technical artists, tools engineers, and AI specialists.
    • Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Foster a culture of experimentation, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Technical Expertise
    • Extensive experience in game development, technical art, tools engineering, or technical leadership roles.
    • Strong understanding of game production pipelines and content creation workflows.
    • Experience developing tools and automation systems.
    • Proficiency in C#, Python, or similar scripting/programming languages.
    • Familiarity with game engines such as Unity or Unreal Engine.
  • AI & Data Experience
    • Experience integrating AI solutions into production environments.
    • Understanding of generative AI technologies, LLMs, image generation systems, and workflow automation.
    • Experience evaluating and deploying third-party AI services and APIs.
    • Knowledge of prompt engineering, model evaluation, and AI-assisted content pipelines.
  • Leadership Skills
    • Proven ability to lead technical initiatives across multiple disciplines.
    • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
    • Ability to balance innovation with practical production needs.
    • Experience defining technical strategy and driving organizational change.
  • Nice to Have
    • Experience in mobile game development.
