As PuzzlePlay scales its loyalty and rewards ecosystem across Tripledot Studios’ portfolio, we are looking for a BI Engineer who will also lead the fraud analytics function. This role combines advanced BI engineering, dashboard ownership, data modelling, and hands-on fraud detection. You will build the data foundations that power our insights while designing and operationalizing the systems that protect PuzzlePlay from fraudulent behaviour. You will sit within the internal Puzzleplay team and work closely with UA, Product, Data Engineering, and the rest of the team’s core members.
Key Responsibilities
- A proactive self-starter with strong organizational skills and a systematic approach to problem-solving.
- Develop and maintain Looker dashboards and reports that surface major in-app metrics for Puzzleplay, its corresponding game clients, user acquisition channels and other company-wide metrics.
- Have a good understanding of the data sources and be able to communicate their limitations and nuances to the business.
- Design metric logic, build aggregate tables, and own data modelling required for high-scale reporting.
- Create business-facing documentation: metric definitions, data dictionaries, and dashboard guides.
- Work with the business and Data Engineering, Analytics and Product teams to identify, evaluate and incorporate new data sources and metrics into production tables.
- Write custom SQL rules to identify suspicious user flows, login patterns, and redemption behaviour.
- Lead investigations into irregularities in the metrics, combining data from multiple sources to answer complex questions.
- Define and document BI best practices and conventions. Guide business areas to ensure consistency in knowledge and practice across the business.
Required
- Quick learner
- Experience building out reports within Looker (or relevant BI tool, Looker preferred).
- Extensive experience in SQL (Snowflake, Bigquery etc.), including complex joins, CTEs, and pattern-recognition queries.
- Experience in a Data Analytics & BI role, delivering and maintaining metrics and dashboards across various teams.
- Excellent attention to detail and meticulous approach to organising code, data, dashboards and documentation.
- Comfort manipulating large datasets for exploratory analysis and investigations.
- A sophisticated approach to navigating organisations and relationships.
- Ability to explain difficult concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders alike.
- Strong communication skills, comfortable presenting findings and recommendations.
- Proven experience developing behaviour based heuristics, rules, or detection systems OR strong interest and analytical ability to ramp up quickly.
Preferred
- Proficiency in one or more programming/scripting languages useful (e.g. Python/R)
- Proficiency in Looker APIs
- Experience in a mobile app / ad tech / gaming company
- Experience with product and user acquisition teams
- B2 means you can participate in online and in person conversations, contribute in fast paced meetings, read and write work documentation independently, and write clear updates - all without relying on translation.
