We have been assigned by one of the UK's most prestigious NHS Trusts to help recruit a Consultant in Renal Medicine on either a Substantive or NHS Fixed Term basis for 12 months. The successful candidate will join their successful Medicine department.
Department Overview
The renal department includes a 28-bed inpatient ward with 4 flexi trolleys. The team comprises 7 Nephrology Consultants, 2 Specialty Doctors, and 12 Medics. They provide comprehensive nephrology services, including dialysis (in-centre and home), transplants, CKD management, home therapies, AKI, and hypertension. The trust also offers specialized services such as cancer diagnosis and treatment, cardiothoracic surgery, neurosurgery, neonatal and paediatric intensive care. The trust is known for its modern operating theatres and expertise in trauma, respiratory conditions, spinal and gastrointestinal surgeries, complex orthopaedics, laparoscopic surgery, and liver conditions.
Role Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the nephrology team to deliver high-quality, timely services.
- Contribute to service development and improvement.
- Work closely with consultant colleagues.
- Participate in a 1:8.5 on-call rota, providing inpatient and outpatient care at the main site and satellite units, including dialysis and outpatient appointments.
- Provide clinical leadership for renal services.
- Supervise and teach junior medical staff, nurse practitioners, and clinical nurse specialists.
