Senior Fellow in Emergency Medicine (CESR Support)

Triple West Medical are currently seeking an experienced Senior Fellow in Emergency Medicine for a substantive role with a well known NHS Trust based in the East Midlands. The Trust has over 10,000 staff offering comprehensive range of acute and community services over a number of sites to over 1 million people. You will have excellent clinical skills and the ability to lead on the shop floor. You will be expected to be active in the teaching and supervision of all multi-disciplinary staff.

The NHS Trust wish to continue to build their reputation as well as advancing standards of clinical care that are at the cutting edge of their specialty. They are looking for applicants who will contribute towards this and who will help to drive the development of modern emergency care in the local health community. The Emergency Department at the site currently sees in excess of 150,000 attendances per year and will join a team of over 25 consultants. They are now seeking a junior (CT3 equivalent, Tier 3) / Senior (ST4+, Tier 4) doctor to join the ED team. They are offering CESR support to progress your career to Specialist Registration.

About the Role

The CESR Fellowship Programme offers an exceptional opportunity for motivated doctors to gain structured training, mentorship, and experience across Emergency Medicine and related specialties. You\’ll be part of a dynamic, forward‑thinking department known nationally for its commitment to education, development, and clinical excellence. Depending on your experience, you\’ll start on either the Tier 3 or Tier 4 rota, gaining exposure to both adult and paediatric emergency medicine.

During your fellowship, you will:

  • Rotate through Acute Medicine, Intensive Care, Anaesthesia, and Paediatric Emergency Medicine
  • Build a comprehensive portfolio aligned to the Emergency Medicine CCT curriculum
  • Receive 8 hours of protected non-clinical time per week for education, audit, and leadership development
  • Participate in FRCEM exam preparation, monthly teaching, and supervised shop‑floor sessions
  • Take on leadership, teaching, and QIP responsibilities as you progress
  • Be supported by a dedicated CESR Lead and Workforce team who have successfully guided multiple fellows to Consultant level

They have had several CESR Fellows completed the pathway and joined the Specialist Register.

About you / Requirements

  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
  • GMC Registration (including current licence to practice)
  • ALS and ATLS provider
  • Completion of Foundation training (or equivalent training)
  • At least five years post MBBS
  • At least three years working in ED in the NHS is essential at CT3 (or higher) level
  • Evidence of active involvement in design and running of relevant clinical audit
  • Leading or being involved in a change in process / demonstrate delegation skills
  • Experience in a large acute hospital (more than 1000 beds)
  • To be considered for Tier 3 (CT3) level role, you will need full MRCEM
  • To be considered for Tier 4 (ST4+) level role, you will need full MRCEM PLUS have IAC sign off
