About the Role
The CESR Fellowship Programme offers an exceptional opportunity for motivated doctors to gain structured training, mentorship, and experience across Emergency Medicine and related specialties. You’ll be part of a dynamic, forward‑thinking department known nationally for its commitment to education, development, and clinical excellence. Depending on your experience, you’ll start on either the Tier 3 or Tier 4 rota, gaining exposure to both adult and paediatric emergency medicine.
Rotate through Acute Medicine, Intensive Care, Anaesthesia, and Paediatric Emergency Medicine.
Build a comprehensive portfolio aligned to the Emergency Medicine CCT curriculum.
Receive 8 hours of protected non‑clinical time per week for education, audit, and leadership development.
Participate in FRCEM exam preparation, monthly teaching, and supervised shop‑floor sessions.
Take on leadership, teaching, and QIP responsibilities as you progress.
Be supported by a dedicated CESR Lead and Workforce team who have successfully guided multiple fellows to Consultant level.
Requirements
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- GMC Registration (including current licence to practice)
- ALS and ATLS provider
- Completion of Foundation training (or equivalent training)
- At least five years post‑MBBS
- At least three years working in ED in the NHS is essential at CT3 (or higher) level
- Evidence of active involvement in design and running of relevant clinical audit
- Leading or being involved in a change in process / demonstrating delegation skills
- Experience in a large acute hospital (more than 1000 beds)
- To be considered for Tier 3 (CT3) role, you will need full MRCEM
- To be considered for Tier 4 (ST4+) role, you will need full MRCEM PLUS IAC sign‑off
