Overview

We have been approached by an NHS University Hospital based in the Midlands, to help them recruit a Consultant Clinical Oncologist on an NHS Substantive.

This vacancy is for a Clinical Oncologist with special interests in Breast and Colorectal cancer and is an ideal opportunity for a Consultant looking to develop specialties and someone who is available for either full or part time. This post is split between two different sites, one for Breast and the other for Colorectal.

Responsibilities

  • Breast team: interest in early breast cancer radiotherapy and adjuvant endocrine treatment; work with medical oncology colleagues to take palliative radiotherapy referrals for breast cancer patients; early breast radiotherapy referrals are approximately 80 new patients/year and approximately 200 follow-up patients/year; metastatic breast cancer radiotherapy approximately 50 per year.
  • Colorectal team: work with an MDT team at a tertiary referral Centre within the region for early and advanced disease, with an active programme in clinical research supported by tumour site specific research nurses; work closely with colleagues and radiographers to deliver optimal techniques (IMRT) in rectal cancer radiotherapy planning and delivery; be responsible for patients undergoing adjuvant and palliative systemic treatment for colorectal cancer; participate in clinical trials.
