We have been assigned by one of the UK's more prestigious NHS Trusts to help them recruit a Consultant in Acute Medicine on either a Substantive or an NHS Fixed Term basis for 12 months to join their successful Medicine department. Our client is an integrated Trust providing community, acute, and specialist care across hospitals, community locations, and patients' homes. They care for a diverse patient population from newborns to the elderly, aiming to become one of the safest healthcare systems in the country. Their vision is to deliver safe, compassionate care through collaboration, integration, and partnership.
The successful appointee will be responsible for patients managed under the Acute Care Hub in three areas, supported by a junior doctor team. The Acute Care Physician (ACP) consultants oversee the Hub out of hours alongside specialty physicians (SCP). The Acute Medical Unit (AMU) assesses patients, with approximately 35 patients seen in 24 hours by the medical on-call team. The post includes responsibilities such as participating in outpatient clinics, procedure lists (e.g., endoscopy, bronchoscopy, ECHO), sub-specialty meetings, and contributing to junior staff and medical student education. The appointee will also be involved in clinical governance activities.
