Locum Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon – FTC – Yorkshire
Triple West Medical are currently seeking an experienced Locum Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon for up to 24 Month Fixed Term Contract based in Yorkshire.
The Trust have around 9000 staff offering comprehensive range of acute and community services over a number of sites to over 700,000 people. You will have excellent clinical skills and expected to be active in the teaching and supervision of all multi-disciplinary staff.
The department and Trust both offer a welcoming and dynamic working environment, with opportunities to participate in teaching medical students from the local Medical School.
The department is within the Head and Neck Directorate which sits under Surgical Care Group and provides an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Service to the local region. Maxillofacial Surgeons currently work at a number of sites, with out-patient and day case surgery at the peripheral sites. In-patient activity is at the main hospital site where there is a well-established, dedicated Head and Neck ward. The department is well supported by Radiology, Pharmacy and Pathology and has close links with Orthodontics, Restorative Dentistry, ENT, Dermatology and Ophthalmology.
The Maxillofacial Surgery team carries out a large number of surgical procedures for Facial Cutaneous Malignancy each year and there is a well-established weekly Skin MDT based at the main site.
Brief Duties/Responsibilities
– Provide and co-ordinate an effective oral and maxillofacial service and to develop a sub-specialty interest that compliments the department. They are also expected to take part in all departmental activities, including on-call, audit and teaching
– Expected to participate in on call commitments and undertake emergency procedures
– Expected to be involved with the General Manager and Clinical Director in the compilation, implementation and monitoring of the business plan for the oral and maxillofacial service
– Must be dually qualified with full GMC and GDC registration with a license to practice and hold specialist listing in the GMC Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Register
– To provide consultant level oral and maxillofacial service on call duties (1 in 7)
– To perform independent elective and emergency operating including day case surgery
– To undertake specialty clinics and participate as a consultant with special interest in the management of skeletal malocclusions and trauma and secondary deformity
– Cover for colleagues\’ annual leave and other authorised absence
– Any responsibility which relates to a special interest
– Professional supervision and management of junior medical staff including the observance of local employment and human resource policies and procedures
– Responsibilities for carrying out teaching, examination and accreditation duties as required and contributing to undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing medical education activity, locally and nationally
– Cross site working maybe required
Our Client is happy to issue Certificate of Sponsorships to suitably qualified overseas doctors. Duel GMC and GDC registration and relevant NHS experience is essential for this position
