Job Description

Triple West Medical have been appointed by an NHS organisation based in SW Scotland to help recruit a Locum Consultant in Diabetes & Endocrinology for a 12 month Fixed Term Contract.

The NHS Trust delivers integrated acute and community health services to a population of around 350,000 across multiple sites with over 8,000 staff.

They are based in Scotland’s south west region with scenic coastline and close proximately to Glasgow. The role is mainly based at 1 site but there would be a requirement to cover the second site which is a short distance nearby. The main site is a modern 330 bed District General Hospital serving a population of 156,000 for most specialties.

The Diabetes and Endocrinology service at functions as an integrated team and all members contribute towards the provision of out-patient and in-patient care. The medical team currently comprises of four Consultant Physicians with an interest in Endocrinology & Diabetes, two Specialty Doctors, Clinical Teaching and Clinical Development Fellows, one IMT trainee, one higher specialist trainee and two FY1 Trainees. You will also work closely with our excellent multi-disciplinary team of Diabetes Specialist Nurses, Diabetes In-Patient Specialist Nurses, Dieticians, Podiatrists, a Specialist Pharmacist and our supporting Administrative Staff. In joining this team the successful candidates will play an important role in the continuing development of Diabetes and Endocrine services.

The duties of the post are purposefully biased towards the provision of specialist outpatient activity in Endocrinology & Diabetes. Out-Patient services are specialty-based and include new and review clinics in General Endocrinology, General Diabetes, Adolescent Diabetes, Transition Diabetes, Diabetes Ante-Natal, CSII and Diabetes Foot services.

Our Client is happy to issue Certificate of Sponsorships to suitably qualified overseas doctors. GMC registration and relevant NHS experience is essential for this position.
