We have been assigned by one of the UK's prestigious NHS Trusts to assist in recruiting a Consultant in ENT - Head and Neck on either a Substantive or NHS Fixed Term basis for 12 months to join their successful ENT department. Our client is one of the UK's largest hospitals in the South West, with over 9,000 staff across 3 sites. The Trust manages patients in East Dorset and West Hampshire.
The ENT department is part of the Surgical Care group, providing elective and emergency services at Poole Hospital, with outpatient activities across Royal Bournemouth and Poole Hospitals. The ENT team currently includes 6 Consultant Surgeons. The successful candidate will join the Head and Neck team, which comprises 2 ENT surgeons. They will support the Head and Neck MDT, including ENT and OMF consultants and 3 oncologists, handling over 150 new H&N SCC cases annually (excluding skin cases).
The department is involved in national and international clinical trials such as PATHOS and HARE-40 and leads the UK robotic database collection. It is a training unit with positive feedback from NTN registrars and international fellows in Head & Neck surgery and interventional laryngology. The Thyroid and Parathyroid MDT includes consultants from ENT, General Surgery, and Oncology. The successful candidate will actively support this service, which operates one Thursday morning per week.
As a consultant, you will be part of the on-call rota with onsite middle-grade and junior doctor support. The team offers clinical and pastoral support and covers general ENT with specialists in Otology, Rhinology, Paediatrics, and Laryngology, including active interventional laryngology services.
