We have been asked by one of the best performing NHS Trusts in the UK to help them recruit a Consultant in Cellular Pathology/Histopathology on either a Substantive or a 12-month NHS Fixed Term basis as a Locum Consultant. Our client achieved “Outstanding” in their 2016 Care Quality Commission inspection and an overall “Good” rating across the rest of the hospital. This is a regional centre of excellence for several key specialties including Obesity Research, Neurophysiology, Cardiology, Ophthalmology and Cancer Services.
The department has recently secured ÂŁ2.7 million funding for the full implementation of digital histopathology reporting across both sites and this is currently being implemented which will be of benefit to the department and consultants for future working. This is expected to be available by April 2023.
The appointee will be part of a team of ten Consultants. The Cellular Pathology / Histopathology Department deals with a wide range of specialties. The laboratory has full UKAS accreditation.
Main Duties:- To actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit.
- To provide the Trust's diagnostic histopathology and non-gynaecological cytopathology in conjunction with consultant colleagues.
- To have responsibility for and actively participate in continuing professional development (CPD).
- Excellent leadership within the team
- 10 PA's (8.5 DCC 1.5 SPA)

Our client is happy to consider New Consultants as well as experienced. Certificate of Sponsorships can be offered to overseas applicants but GMC registration is essential for this Consultant Histopathology vacancy, specialist registration is not essential. FRCPath Part 1 & 2 preferred.
