Overview

We have been assigned by one of the UK\’s more prestigious NHS Trusts to help them recruit a Consultant in Rheumatology on either a substantive or an NHS fixed term basis for 12 months to join their Medicine department.

Our client is a multi-site acute and community Trust, based on the outskirts of London, which serves a population of more than 336,000 across the area, and a tertiary cancer centre offering state of the art diagnostic and treatment services to a population of two million. They have an excellent reputation and high quality ratings across multiple services.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a Rheumatology service that is flexible and responsive.
  • Play a full part in the out-of-hours On-Call service for general medicine (currently 1 in 16).
  • Maintain and run approximately 5 general rheumatology clinics per week, plus an injection clinic or a specialist interest clinic as required.
  • Ensure adequate arrangements for hospital staff involved in patient care can contact you when necessary.
  • Contribute to developing and implementing new ways of working in line with modernization principles and fit for the future.
  • Take responsibility for professional supervision and management and devote time to teaching, examination and accreditation duties for junior medical staff.
  • Participate in clinical governance, audit and research as appropriate.

Qualifications and requirements

  • GMC registration is required.
  • Experience as a Consultant in Rheumatology.
