We have been assigned by one of the UK's more prestigious NHS Trusts to help them recruit a Consultant in General Radiology on either a Substantive or an NHS Fixed Term basis for 12 months to join their successful Radiology department. Our client is an innovative hospital with a proud heritage and over 250 years of experience behind them. Here, they are driven to deliver an outstanding experience for everyone and have been well regarded for the quality of care and treatment they continue to provide for their patients and staff. They are an acute Trust, rated 'Good' by the CQC, with a track record of high performance providing regional and super regional specialist services such as Burns, Plastics & Reconstructive Surgery, Regional Genetics Laboratory, Rehabilitation, Spires Cleft Centre, and the Duke of Cornwall Spinal Treatment Centre. They have about 470 beds and employ over 4000 staff.

The successful appointee will be part of a Radiology department joining a well-established, dynamic team of 17 Radiologists. The successful candidate will provide General Radiology services with a specialist interest in urological, chest, or neuroradiology. Our client's Department of Clinical Radiology is a multi-disciplinary team dedicated to the provision of a modern, safe, efficient, friendly, patient-centered imaging, and interventional service for a busy medium-sized acute Trust. The Radiology Department operates using a PACS system (Sectra) and Radiology Information System (CRIS: Wellbeing), and is part of the local network (SWASH consortium).

The appointee will be asked to undertake various duties, including:

  • Participating in weekend working and covering out of hours imaging.
  • Attending weekly chest cancer MDT meetings with opportunities to perform lung biopsies and develop a lung nodule MDT.
  • Further developing the chest radiology services.
  • Having experience in General Radiology and undertaking a proportional share of the Department's reporting of XR, U/S, CT, and MRI, including Hot Reporting and Duty Radiology sessions.
  • Supporting the clinical governance and audit for the trust.
