Triple West Medical have been appointed by an NHS organisation in South Wales to help recruit a Consultant in Gastroenterology on a substantive or fixed-term contract.
The department provides a comprehensive service for patients with GI. It also provides tertiary services not available in local hospitals such as complex hepatobiliary disease, EUS, oesophageal manometry, complex IBD, intestinal failure and home parenteral nutrition and advanced endoscopy including EMR, ESD, and RFA. The ERCP service is based at one site and deals with 450 cases per year of a secondary and tertiary nature. Bowel screening colonoscopy is performed at another site (4 screening colonoscopists), which is also a regional center for endoscopy training, training/assessment of potential screening colonoscopists, and endoscopic clinical trials. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing GI cancer, attending Tumour Boards (MDTs), and chronic gastrointestinal disease.
