We have been assigned by one of the best performing NHS Trusts in the UK to help them recruit a Consultant in Endocrinology & Diabetes on either a Substantive or a 12-month NHS Fixed Term basis. The successful appointee will be joining a Diabetes and Endocrinology team that serves a population of approximately 500,000, with the following workload:
- Outpatient clinics - 2 new and 6-7 follow-up patients seen in a 4-hour session;
- Inpatients – 45 patients on Ward 10A and B supported by 3 consultants at any time & DOT support – 7-day inpatient care to diabetes inpatients alongside DSNs.
Our client is committed to providing the highest standards of diabetes and endocrine care and advancing specialization and provision of diabetes and endocrine services across the Trust sites. The department of diabetes and endocrinology now comprises a team of over 70 healthcare professionals and support staff and has been re-established as ENHIDE. The appointee will be joining a core team of 10 consultants within the department rotating bi-weekly, delivering general medical and inpatient consultant-led diabetes and endocrine care along with a team of 4 Specialty Registrars (higher level), 4 CMT posts (core level & GP trainees), and 2 Foundation Doctor Year 1's.
The department expects the appointee to fulfill the following duties:
- Active involvement in multidisciplinary team meetings and directorate clinical governance activity.
- Shared responsibility for the day-to-day management of the service and participation in strategic planning.
- Teaching and training within the multidisciplinary service.
- Active participation in continuing medical education.
