We have been assigned by one of the UK's more prestigious NHS Trusts to help them recruit a Consultant in Emergency Medicine on either a Substantive or an NHS Fixed Term basis for 12 months to join their successful A&E department.

The appointee will be joining our client, serving a wide geographical area with a population approaching 800,000 residents, with nearly 10,000 staff and an annual budget of over £650 million. The trust are on the rise with various projects and investments within the trust: with investment in a £35million new Emergency Department and co-located Urgent Treatment Centre, with additional diagnostic imaging kit (MRI and CT). There's a £5.3million molecular diagnostic laboratory soon to open, and works begins soon for a new Breast Care Centre and a Children's Unit. In addition, they are also now building a £7million specialist interventional radiology and cardiac angiography unit and are building a new elective orthopaedic centre. With an exciting capital development programme across their sites - totaling £100million over the next five years, this is a great chance for the right candidate

The successful appointee will be asked to fulfil various responsibilities within the department, these include: organising and administering a 24-hour service for emergency medical presentations based on resuscitation, assessment and initial treatment, on call duties will be shared with the existing Consultants, clinical duties will be shared on a WTE basis with the present Consultants and will include all the normal duties expected in any major Emergency Department, day time cover is with an EPIC consultant and an additional Consultant covering Ambulatory care, actively encourage participation in teaching programmes for Undergraduate and postgraduate students and will be opportunities to explore development of dual roles such as Pre-Hospital, Intensive Care Medicine, Paediatrics, Ultrasound, or Simulation depending on the skills and interests of the applicant.
