We are currently supporting an NHS Trust in the Midlands seeking to appoint a Consultant Cardiologist, all within a well-supported, forward-thinking Trust undergoing major service transformation (including a move to a single acute site model by 2028).

Key aspects of the role:

  • Broad cardiology practice covering the full spectrum of cardiological conditions in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Management of coronary artery disease with opportunities for coronary intervention.
  • 1:10 on-call commitment to a Primary PCI rota at a tertiary centre.
  • Close collaboration in a complex-patient MDT and weekly tertiary centre MDT.
  • Strong emphasis on multidisciplinary working with specialist nurses, advanced practitioners, physiologists, and allied health professionals.
  • High-volume outpatient service (approximately 11,000 new and 10,000 follow-up appointments annually).
  • Comprehensive diagnostics on site including cardiac catheter lab, device implantation, TOE, cardiac CT, and access to cardiac MRI.
  • Particularly welcome applicants with expertise or interest in cardiac imaging.

Job Plan outline (full-time):

  • 7.5 PA Direct Clinical Care (including predictable and unpredictable emergency work).
  • 2.5 PA Supporting Professional Activities (CPD, audit, teaching, research).
  • 1.5 additional PA allocation for the emergency PPCI on-call.

Person Specification highlights (essential):

  • MBBS/MBChB (or equivalent) + MRCP (or equivalent).
  • Full GMC registration with licence to practise.
  • Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register (CCT or CESR route) preferred but not essential.

The department has an ambitious expansion plan over the next five years and is investing in state-of-the-art facilities. You would join a supportive consultant team with excellent junior doctor and multidisciplinary support, and full secretarial/office facilities.

Remuneration: £109,725 – £145,478 per annum (YC73)
