We are assisting a prestigious NHS Trust in the UK to recruit a Consultant Physician with an interest in Respiratory Medicine. This position can be offered on a substantive or NHS Fixed Term basis for 12 months, within their successful Medicine department. The Trust is an acute hospital serving the Fylde Coast and wider Lancashire, with community support functions. It is located in the town centre, near Stanley Park and within walking distance of the town centre. The hospital has dedicated wards for Respiratory Medicine and other medical wards across the hospital. Additionally, there is a rehabilitation hospital in St. Annes on the Sea.

The Trust has recently approved the development of a dedicated NIV and Medical High Care Unit (MHCU), along with a recently established acute Respiratory Assessment Centre (RAC) and an Ambulatory Care service including Hot Clinics and a Pleural Diseases service. The department is expanding, with plans to recruit more nursing and support staff, and offers opportunities for sub-specialisation in areas such as Lung Cancer, Sleep, NIV, Pulmonary Hypertension, Pleural Disease, TB, Interstitial Lung Disease, Bronchiectasis, Asthma, and Cystic Fibrosis. The team operates on a ward rotation across three wards (Wards 5, 7, and 10), enabling cross-cover and protecting clinics. The department is nationally recognized and actively involved in research trials.
