We have been assigned by one of the UK's more prestigious NHS Trusts to help them recruit a Consultant in Stroke Medicine on either a Substantive or an NHS Fixed Term basis for 12 months to join their successful Stroke Department. Our client requires a Consultant to complement the current team providing stroke services for the Yorkshire area. This position is a substantive post for Stroke Medicine where you'll join a team of 5 substantive Stroke Physicians, 6 Consultant Neurologists, Consultant Neurophysiologists and a Consultant in Neurological Rehabilitation.
You will assist in delivering holistic patient focused care by multi-disciplinary and multi-specialty collaboration in a large Acute Stroke Centre. The post is expected to support the entire pathway which will cover Hyper acute services currently being 1:8, acute stroke unit and the rehabilitation unit as well as providing on calls for thrombolysis both out of hours and weekends. The consultant is expected to support running of the TIA clinic which is held every day of the week. The Neurosciences Unit provides a sub-regional Neurological Service to parts of West Yorkshire, North Yorkshire and South Yorkshire.

The successful appointee will be asked to fulfil various responsibilities when joining this trust, these include:
- Keep patients (and/or their carers if appropriate) informed about their condition and involve them in the decision making of their treatment.
- To provide high quality care to all patients admitted to the stroke service at MYHT.
- Maintain professional standards and obligations as set out from time to time by the General Medical Council (GMC) and comply in particular with the GMC's guidance on 'Good Medical Practice' as amended or substituted from time to time.
- Urgent and Emergency Care duties including out-of-hours on-call; schedules will take due account of the provisions of working time regulations and safe working.
- On-call duties are currently shared with 7 other colleagues on a 1:8 basis & assume teaching responsibilities for Junior and Undergraduate Staff along with Clinical Governance and Audit duties.
