The Team
The SME lending team at Triple Point provides tailored financing solutions to small and medium‑sized enterprises (SMEs) across a variety of sectors. Specializing in flexible debt structures, the team enables businesses to scale and grow through expansion, acquisition, or working capital solutions. Committed to long‑term partnerships both directly with owner‑managers and Private Equity Sponsors, the team actively supports SMEs at various stages of their growth cycle including succession and exit planning.
The Role
This role will sit within the origination function of SME debt finance. The role is varied and offers the chance to join a dynamic team of experienced professionals, operating in a market where non‑bank lenders provide the flexible solutions that traditional lenders may struggle to deliver quickly. Triple Point manages over £1.3bn in lending assets across multiple sectors and is recognized as a leading lender to UK businesses. With nearly 20 years of lending experience, this is a compelling opportunity for the right candidate to be part of an entrepreneurial and results‑driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate and execute new lending transactions working towards both individual and team targets.
- Analysis of prospective borrowers’ financial models, ascertaining the financial risks of the opportunity and the ability to run appropriate scenario sensitivities.
- Represent Triple Point and maintain a consistent visible presence in the SME debt market, attending and hosting events for key stakeholders and growing the SME Debt Finance introducer network.
- Prepare financial spreads and risk rating scorecards.
- Conduct company, industry and market analysis to further assess borrower, obligor and guarantor credit quality.
- Work closely with the credit function to ensure appropriate opportunities are sourced and delivered in line with framework and underwriting process requirements.
- Support and develop Origination Analysts in the team in terms of origination activities, transaction structure negotiation and career development.
- Participate and lead calls/meetings with advisors/management/private equity sponsors.
- Support and lead presentations to Investment Committee for new lending opportunities.
- Support the end‑to‑end documentation for new borrower facilities.
- Updating KYC as and when necessary.
- Ensure smooth handover of new lending requests to the Relationship Services Team (“RST”), working closely with the RST (and other internal functions) to manage and adapt procedures.
- Work independently and as part of the team as and when required.
Knowledge & Experience
- Demonstrable track record of originating (both in a support and/or leading role) and executing (end‑to‑end) new lending transactions in the UK SME Cashflow Lending and Leveraged Finance markets. Transactions can be both sponsor and non‑sponsor backed, with cheque sizes between £1m‑£30m.
- Experience of loan documentation negotiation and execution (familiarity with LMA standards).
- Experience of developing new business opportunities in the SME borrowing market with a pre‑existing or growing network of advisors / brokers / acquirers from whom to generate and underwrite new deals (not essential but preferred).
- Current knowledge of the commercial lending market, including pricing, competitors, products.
- Strong financial modelling, Microsoft Excel and relevant AI tools skills.
- Educated to degree level, ideally supported by a professional qualification in accountancy, banking or risk management.
