The Relationship Services team is Triple Point Private Credit's SME Portfolio team. The team manages borrower relationships across SME Debt Finance, Specialty Finance and Fund Finance, ensuring strong portfolio performance, assessing in-life credit events, and supporting high-quality client outcomes.
The Relationship Director (RD) leads some of the team’s most complex and high-value SME borrower relationships, with a particular focus on sponsor-backed leveraged and acquisition finance. The role carries significant autonomy, requiring mature credit judgement, strong relationship leadership, and the ability to structure and execute sophisticated transactions that support strong portfolio outcomes and commercial value creation. The RD also plays a critical leadership role within the team coaching junior colleagues, shaping best practice, and deputising for the Head of Relationship Services where required.
Key Responsibilities- Own, lead and strategically manage a portfolio of high-value, complex borrowers, focusing on sponsor-backed leveraged/acquisition finance.
- Maintain regular, senior-level communication with borrowers, sponsors, advisers and management teams to strengthen long-term relationships.
- Oversee the onboarding process for new clients (in partnership with Origination), and ensure smooth handover of deteriorating credits to Restructuring.
- Take full accountability for portfolio compliance: MI receipt, covenant testing, reporting accuracy, escalation and early identification of risks.
- Monitor acquisition facilities, including reviewing pipeline acquisitions, assessing covenant headroom, and approving/declining draw requests.
- Review management information, interrogate financial performance, and update senior stakeholders as needed.
- Lead all borrower in-life events, including forbearance, restructures, covenant resets, new money requests and negotiations with sponsors/advisers.
- Structure transactions, draft term sheets, prepare high-quality credit papers and present recommendations to Credit Forum/Investment Committee.
- Lead Annual Reviews end-to-end, ensuring timely and accurate analysis and approval.
- Lead negotiations and documentation processes for new lending and amendments, coordinating with internal legal, external counsel and credit colleagues.
- Ensure execution is timely, commercially sound, risk-aligned and operationally smooth.
- Line manage Associate Directors and Portfolio Managers: allocate work, develop capability and provide feedback.
- Act as a senior escalation point, providing guidance on complex cases and supporting junior colleagues’ development.
- Deputise for the Head of Relationship Services as required (team meetings, strategic forums, cross-functional working groups).
- Lead project work that supports the team’s wider strategic goals.
- Adopt a strategic, forward-looking approach to portfolio optimisation, identifying opportunities for new lending, fee generation and value enhancement.
- Operate with significant autonomy, requiring limited oversight, while keeping senior stakeholders informed where appropriate.
- Significant experience in sponsor-backed leveraged finance, with proven track record originating or managing acquisition finance structures.
- Direct experience negotiating and executing LMA-style facility agreements, security and intercreditor documents, and committed acquisition facilities.
- Demonstrable experience managing complex borrower relationships and leading new lending transactions.
- Strong financial modelling capability, including leveraged case modelling, covenant analysis and scenario testing.
- Strong understanding of the commercial lending landscape (pricing, competitors, structures).
- Degree educated; professional qualifications in accountancy, banking or risk management (advantageous).
- Experience with restructures, covenant breaches or forbearance processes (advantageous).
- Ability to work independently with senior-level autonomy while collaborating effectively with key stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills; confident engaging with senior management teams, sponsors and advisers.
- Strong organisation and project management, with ability to manage multiple complex workstreams.
