Who we are: Triodos Bank is an award-winning organisation and one of Europe’s leading sustainable banks. Our mission is to make money work for positive social, environmental, and cultural change. We offer a wide range of banking services for people who want to use their money consciously - from current accounts to investments and savings. We only finance companies, organisations, and projects that benefit people and the environment. We’re a certified B Corporation, meaning we are part of a community of businesses driving the shift to a new kind of economy - one that is better for workers, communities, and the environment.

The Opportunity: We’re excited to be recruiting for our next Risk & Audit interns. This is a 13-month placement scheme running from the beginning of August 2026 until the end of August 2027. The Risk and Audit internship at Triodos has run for five years and has been a huge success.

As a Risk & Audit intern, you will rotate between the Triodos UK Internal Audit and Risk teams, supporting department objectives while bringing your own knowledge and perspective to the role. You’ll work with other TBUK departments to maximise efficiency and collaboration, and you’ll have the opportunity to partner with other interns on projects that directly benefit the business and support your own personal development.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Risk: Providing support on aspects of Operational Risk Management, Compliance Risk Management (including project work and monitoring), Credit Risk, Enterprise Risk, and risk reporting for TBUK, with exposure to Group requirements, structures, and policies.
  • Attending internal committees, forums, and workshops, representing the team.
  • Working with business units across the bank on a range of risk issues and programmes.
  • Owning and delivering agreed tasks within deadlines.

Audit:

  • Supporting the delivery of the Internal Audit plan for TBUK and Triodos Bank.
  • Working with Group Internal Audit on professional practice updates and continuous improvement projects, as required.
  • Bringing your perspective to both internal audits and audit methodology.
  • Owning and delivering agreed tasks within deadlines.

General responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with other interns from across the bank on assigned project work to support your development.
  • Providing feedback and insights on policies and processes, with a mindset of continuous improvement.
  • Complying with all regulatory obligations and internal governance to ensure ethical behaviour and fair outcomes for TBUK customers.

What we are looking for:

This role is suitable for a placement student interested in a career path within Risk and Audit. You should possess excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, and the ability to work confidently and effectively with internal teams and external partners. Strong communication and analytical skills, along with a good working knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel, are essential. We value diverse thinkers with an adaptable and flexible approach, and a genuine interest in positive social and environmental change.

Experience in report writing, presenting, or in a customer- or public-facing role is desirable, but not essential. Triodos is proud of its culture, ethos, and positive impact on society. Candidates should be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to Triodos Bank’s core values of ethical sustainability and transparency, as well as the personal qualities to embody these values.

  • What you feel you can personally bring to the business.
  • Whether you are interested in any of our other internship opportunities (e.g., HR, Marketing, Operations, or Risk & Audit).

At Triodos, we value a diverse workforce and the contribution each person makes. We believe that diversity brings different ideas and perspectives which help us to be sustainable as a business and that everyone should be treated equally, with the same dignity and respect. Therefore, you will receive a competitive basic salary of £26,228 and a benefits package which includes:

  • Non-contributory pension scheme from your first day of 8% in year 1 and 10% from year 2 onwards.
  • Life Assurance (worth 4 times basic pay).
  • Income Protection - 75% of basic pay after 13 weeks sick and following six months service.
  • Private Medical Insurance with optional enhanced or HCP family coverage.
  • A Health Cash Plan.
  • Vitality Leave – After each 5 years of service, you will be able to take a sabbatical of up to 3 months.
  • 27 days (Full Time Equivalent) annual plus bank holidays per annum increasing to 30 days after 2 years’ service.
  • A buy and sell holiday scheme of up to 5 days (Full Time Equivalent) to maximum of 35 days.
  • 5 days fully paid carers leave.
  • A wellbeing allowance of £200 a year.
  • Cycle to work scheme.
  • Refer a Friend scheme.

As well as a great remuneration and benefits package, by the end of the placement you will have gained:

  • Exposure to sustainable banking & how money can be used effectively to promote positive change & impact.
  • An opportunity to work on a project which benefits the business and your own personal development.
  • A high-level visibility over the entirety of TBUK and Triodos Bank.
  • A good grounding in Risk Management and Internal Audit to inform future career choices.
  • Opportunities to build professional networks, inside/outside TBUK.
