About the Role

Trinity school are looking at appointing a well-qualified, enthusiastic and innovative Design and Technology teacher. All specialisms will be considered. The post is suitable for a newly qualified or more experienced teacher.

Technology Department

The Technology Department is large, supportive and friendly. The department comprises of D&T, art textiles, art 3D design, graphics, hospitality and catering, health and social care and child development. There are currently seven experienced members of staff supported by one full time and three part time technicians. Our accommodation consists of four dedicated workshops, two food rooms, a textiles room and a range of computing facilities. All rooms are located along the same corridor.

Teaching Arrangements

  • Key Stage 3: In D&T, Years 7, 8 & 9 students currently have two lessons per week of Design and Technology across the range of subject areas.
  • Key Stage 4: In Years 10 and 11 we are currently offering AQA GCSE Art 3D design, design technology, WJEC hospitality and catering, Cambridge National Health and social care and child development.
  • Key Stage 5: In years 12 and 13 we currently offer AQA A Level Design & Technology: Product Design and a Cambridge Technical course in Health and Social Care, plus from September, AQA in mental health.

General Information

The Design Technology rooms have a range of CAD/CAM equipment including a laser cutter, vinyl sticker cutters, a CAM router and 3D printers. The workshops benefit from modern equipment installed during the rebuild. Each workshop has been set up with a bias towards an area of the subject. Three workshops have a suite of 12 desktop computers and four cabinets of 15 portable laptops are also available to use throughout the department. 2D Design software is used for CAD work and a Techsoft laser cutter for basic CAM work. Over the last 5 years skills in 3D CAM have been developed using a Denford Router.
