The Role
As a Shift Engineer, you'll be responsible for carrying out both planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs across a range of production machinery and site utilities. Working closely with production teams and engineering colleagues, you'll help minimise downtime, improve equipment reliability, and ensure operations run smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance on production equipment and utilities.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical faults efficiently.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and increase equipment performance.
- Conduct routine machinery inspections, servicing, and repairs.
- Collaborate with production teams to schedule maintenance with minimal disruption.
- Assist in maintaining a safe working environment and promote best practice in health and safety.
- Support risk assessments, safe systems of work, permits to work, and compliance activities.
- Participate in audits and help implement corrective actions where required.
- Contribute to training and knowledge sharing within engineering and production teams.
- Maintain accurate maintenance and safety records.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience in a manufacturing, production, or industrial engineering environment.
- Strong fault-finding skills across mechanical and/or electrical systems.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
- Good understanding of health and safety requirements within an engineering setting.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Flexibility to provide shift cover and respond to major breakdowns when required.
