Job Description
We are looking for an experienced and collaborative Mechanical Engineer to join a highly adaptable and responsive UK defence engineering team. With offices in Portland and Chertsey, you’ll work across the full product lifecycle, from concept to delivery, creating solutions that perform in some of the most demanding environments on Earth.What you’ll do:
- Design and develop bespoke equipment in line with defence standards.
- Work closely with project and manufacturing teams to ensure products are fit for purpose.
- Select the right materials, manufacturing methods, and integration techniques for the job.
- Liaise with suppliers, provide technical guidance, and support testing to international standards.
- Solve real-world engineering challenges both in-office and on-site.
- Maintain high standards of quality, traceability, and safety in all design work.
What you’ll bring:
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline).
- Experience in 3D CAD design (Inventor preferred) and producing 2D drawings to industry standards.
- Understanding of materials selection, manufacturing processes, and ergonomic design.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and time management skills.
- Knowledge of stress analysis, GD&T, and product data management systems (Vault preferred).
