We’re recruiting on behalf of a well-established engineering and manufacturing organisation seeking a Project / Manufacturing Engineer to act as the critical link between engineering projects and production. This role plays a key part in supporting new products from late-stage design through to full-rate production, ensuring manufacturing issues are resolved quickly, production readiness is achieved on time, and quality standards are maintained throughout.
The Role
As Project / Manufacturing Engineer, you’ll be the primary engineering point of contact for production, working closely with project managers, production engineers, test teams and supply chain to keep manufacturing running smoothly. You’ll support New Product Introduction (NPI) activity, help transition designs into production readiness, and take ownership of test equipment, production planning support, and issue resolution across the manufacturing lifecycle.
Production Support & Issue Resolution
- Act as the day-to-day engineering interface for production and test teams when issues arise
- Investigate and resolve manufacturing or test problems, including fault-finding and root cause analysis
- Liaise with stores, quality, supply chain and external partners as required
- Support the management of non-conformances, corrective actions, and drawing or documentation updates
- Work closely with the Project Manager and Design Authority to resolve production-impacting issues
Production Readiness & Planning
- Work alongside Production Engineers to ensure drawing packs and manufacturing data are complete, accurate and production-ready
- Capture observations from prototype and early builds and ensure they are incorporated prior to production release
- Champion the product through production readiness reviews, ensuring facilities, tooling and test equipment are in place
- Support post-release handover from Engineering to Production, including walkthroughs, SOPs, and knowledge transfer activities
- Assist with change control activities post-release, supporting issue capture and review through the appropriate governance process
New Product Introduction & Test
- Support test and integration activities during late-stage design phases where required
- Use product knowledge to help define production test strategies and documentation
- Support production planning through accurate works documentation and job packs
- Lead the specification, design and delivery of production and test equipment, including automated test solutions where appropriate
- Ensure test equipment is delivered, commissioned and ready to support production schedules
What We’re Looking For
- Experience working at the interface of engineering projects and manufacturing
- Strong understanding of production readiness, NPI, and manufacturing support
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and coordinate across multiple teams
- Comfortable working with drawings, manufacturing data packs and test equipment
- Strong communication skills and a practical, solutions-focused mindset
Why Apply?
- Opportunity to work on complex, engineered products from design through to production
- High-impact role with real ownership and visibility across engineering and manufacturing
- Collaborative environment with exposure to projects, production and test teams
