Location: London, Tottenham

Shift Pattern: 4 days on / 4 days off | 12-hour shifts

We are looking for a hands-on Shift Engineer to take ownership of engineering operations across a busy industrial laundry facility. Working on a 4-on, 4-off shift pattern, you'll be the engineering lead on duty, keeping critical machinery running safely, efficiently and reliably. This is an ideal opportunity for a skilled multi-skilled engineer who enjoys fault-finding, solving problems and taking ownership in a fast-paced production environment.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Take full ownership of engineering activity throughout your shift.
  • Respond quickly to breakdowns and minimise production downtime.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and control system faults.
  • Maintain and repair industrial equipment including washers, dryers, feeders, ironers, folders, conveyors and automated handling systems.
  • Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and ensure equipment remains safe and operational.
  • Investigate recurring faults and identify permanent solutions to improve reliability.
  • Prioritise engineering issues based on safety, production requirements and operational impact.
  • Coordinate engineers, contractors and specialist support when required.
  • Maintain accurate breakdown, repair, PPM and spare-parts records using a CMMS/PPM system.
  • Provide clear and detailed written and verbal shift handovers.
  • Work closely with Production and Operations to maximise equipment availability and throughput.
  • Support continuous improvement, equipment installations, commissioning and engineering projects.
  • Maintain high standards of health, safety, housekeeping and workshop organisation.

What We are Looking For

  • Time-served Engineer or equivalent practical engineering experience.
  • Strong multi-skilled fault-finding ability across mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Experience in manufacturing, processing, industrial or other fast-paced operational environments.
  • Confident working independently and making decisions with minimal supervision.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a genuine ownership mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly when providing technical handovers.
  • Ability to prioritise multiple breakdowns and maintenance requirements safely and effectively.
  • A proactive approach to preventative maintenance and continuous improvement.
  • Desirable HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Electrical or Engineering.
  • 18th Edition, IOSH, NEBOSH, PUWER or similar certification.
  • Experience with industrial laundry equipment or automated production machinery.
