Buyer Salary: Negotiable plus discretionary bonus Location: Evesham , easily commutable from Tewkesbury , Pershore , Worcester Alcester , Moreton-in-Marsh , Cheltenham , Gloucester Hours: Monday to Friday 08:30am to 16:30pm A rare opportunity has arisen with a leading, well-established manufacturer who requires a new Buyer. With the support of the General Manager and Managing Director you will be responsible for the Purchasing of all products within the Company. The purchasing system is in very good shape however there are opportunities for you to bring new perspectives and processes to the role. The Buyer Role: * Purchase products, schedule deliveries and maintain inventory levels to enhance best value, delivery performance, and quality for production materials required by the company. * Manage the day-to-day and periodic requirements of the Sage-based ERP system. * Communicate with all suppliers regarding repeat orders, quality issues, supply issues and new product introductions. * Book in deliveries as “complete” and expedite Purchase Orders as necessary. * Negotiate contracts and prices with current and potential new suppliers and identify cost reduction opportunities. * Attend meetings with current and prospective suppliers and provide information relative to the introduction of new products. * Manage the addition of new suppliers to the Company. * Be aware of market forces that drive cost and delivery performance for relevant products. * Report non-availability of products or production shortages and provide an action plan to alleviate supply issues. * Attend internal Production and Planning meetings to report on delivery progress, supply/quality issues and new opportunities. Skills required for the Buyer role: * Sound working knowledge of buying within a manufacturing environment. * Knowledge of purchasing raw materials including steels and engineering components such as hydraulics. * Excellent IT Skills to include Sage and Excel. * Be able to form positive, mutually-beneficial relationships with Suppliers. * Strong communication skills. * Strong negotiating skills with regard to reducing cost. * Analytical and able to present and explain data. * Ability to work in a positive, cross-functional team. * Full driving licence Buyer role Benefits: 25 days holidays increasing with service, Christmas week closure, Discretionary bonus, Contributory pension, free parking.
